Billy Vera is perhaps best known as the "Leader Beater" of his band Billy Vera & the Beaters, originally founded in 1979 and still performing today.
He has recently embarked on a new endeavor, A Big Band album titled, “Billy Vera Big Band Jazz” featuring an 18 piece orchestra. The album is a tribute to the Black songwriters of the 20s, 30s, & 40s.
Billy's talent doesn't stop with being an exceptional musician and singer however. He's also a well-respected music producer, songwriter, music historian, voice-over talent, and actor.
HERE’S A FEW MORE THINGS YOU MIGHT NOT KNOW: Billy played Pinky Caruthers in the cult classic "Buckaroo Banzai" starring Peter Weller. He received a Star on the World Famous Hollywood Walk of Fame. It's located near the front of the Capitol Records building on Vine if you care to visit.
Billy can be found often at the original Farmer's Market on Fairfax chowing down on a tuna fish sandwich on white toast.
He owns a huge - and fabulous - collection of 45's including The Flamingos on the Chance label, red plastic.
