Nico Duportal serves up Rockin’ Rhythm & Swingin’ Blues all over the world - Belgium, Netherlands, Luxembourg, Germany, England, Scotland, Spain, Italy, Poland and Australia.

Now he brings his world-class talents to Don the Beachcomber in Huntington Beach with the incomparable Memphis Kings featuring Tommy Harkenrider.

Appearing in not only the Doheny Blues Festival but also the Doheny Blues Pre-Party on Friday May 19, this is your chance to see Nico within the confines of an intimate supper club with optional dinner and drinks.

Duportal takes his inspiration from early rhythm & blues and swing, with influences from the likes of Oscar McLollie, Smiley Lewis, Joe & Jimmy Liggins, Red Prysock & Tiny Grimes, Ike Turner, Little Richard, Larry Williams and Doc Starkes & the Night Riders.

On the rare visits Nico makes to the States, he has played with some of the greatest artists such as Lynwood Slim, Junior Watson, Roddy Jackson, R.J Misho, Mitch Woods, Wanda Jackson, Big jay McNeely, Gizzelle and Alex Vargas.

He has also appeared with Big Sandy, Duke Robillard, Ruby Ann, Ray Collins, Carl & the Rhythm All-stars and so on which exemplifies his passionate guitar style, his liveliness, amazing swing, enthusiasm and expertise.

The Memphis Kings' forte is a buffet of Roots Music, blending rhythm and blues, country and early jazz. Members are musicians Tommy Harkenrider, John Dominguez, and Ron Felton. The Memphis King's fan base represent blues purists, greasers, rockabilly fans, dancers and bikers alike. They never disappoint audiences with their talented upbeat performances.

For this show, they are joined by the keyboardist from Social Distortion, Mr. Danny McGough, and the saxophonist from Royal Crown Revue, Mr. Mando Dorame.

Doors open at 6:45 pm and music starts at 8:15 in the cozy Longboard Room.
