Often called "the world's greatest bar band," NRBQ are that rare group that's eclectic, stylistically innovative, and creatively ambitious while also sounding thoroughly unpretentious and accessible.
NRBQ's music casually mixes up barrelhouse R&B, British Invasion pop, fourth-gear rockabilly, exploratory free jazz, and dozens of other flavors while giving it all a stomp-down rhythm that makes fans want to dance.
Expressing a sense of joy and easy good humor that comes straight from the hear, the band's lasted more than 40 years, yet has barely flirted with mainstream success.
It has earned a sizable, passionate cult of fans that includes Elvis Costello, Paul McCartney, Keith Richards, Bonnie Raitt, Ira Kaplan, John Sebastian, and Dave Edmunds.
Alternative country meets the rockabilly revival meets California guitar virtuosity in the music of Rosie Flores. Since the late '70s, guitarist, singer, and songwriter Rosie Flores has been an important figure on the alternative country scene in both Austin, TX, and Los Angeles. She's a hard-working, independently minded artist who's well-respected for her gritty, energetic vocals and fiery guitar solos.
Prolifically creative, Flores deserves to be numbered among the creators of the alternative country movement. Her career, never flagging, has outlasted those of a host of other acts in that fast-moving genre.
Be prepared to hear cuts from her new blues album coming out this summer when she opens with NRBQ for this special showcase of two roots legends.
Doors open at 6:45 pm, music at 8:15
